About

Hi y’all! My name is Jasmine (I’m sure you already knew that, *insert laughing emoji*) and this is my blog! Ta-da! I’ve been contemplating making a blog for quite sometime now, and I figured that it’s finally time! Since I love to write and to take pictures (especially take pictures) this will be a perfect outlet for me to talk about the things that matter, as well as getting to share them with others!

Since this is the first time a lot of people will be getting to know me I figured I’d give a little back story…

I was born in 1993 to Todd and Milagros Brown. My mother was born and raised in the Philippines and my father was born and raised in the south. North Carolina to be exact. My dad was in the United States Navy, so he met my mom on his deployment when his ship got called to help with the volcanic eruption of Mt. Pinatubo.

Being a military family we moved a lot. But since my father was an officer, he was fortunate enough to be where we wanted to be. Oahu, Hawaii. Where I spent most of my life. The place I call home.

On May 13 2008, my mother passed away from an unforeseen brain aneurysm. From this day forward, our lives were forever changed.

I graduated highschool in 2011. I was so lost as to what I wanted to do with my life, honestly, and the military was the only thing I knew. So I joined the United States Army. I left for basic training in January of 2012 where I spent six months away from home. Two of those being at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and four of those at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

This is when I met my husband. Jered Woody. The quiet and awkward “white boy”. Let’s just say we hit it off! Our very first conversation was about watches and clocks (which we are both very intrigued and obsessed with), and we got married five months later. Yes, I said that right, five months later. He had just lost a son (in a prior relationship, Trenton Kohl Woody was only six month old when he died from hypo-plastic left heart syndrome) and I had just lost my mother, so we took comfort in knowing we could be there for one another. We then started off our newly-wedded lives in South Korea, where my husband was stationed at the time.

Another five months passed, and I went home to visit my father and my baby sister. Little did I know that upon my arrival, I would be told something that would shatter my world into pieces. On April 13 2013, my dad had committed suicide… the day before I got home (disclaimer: I am in tears right now as I type this). Now, I won’t get too deep into this part of my life, but to make things short, my father had made it very clear to my sister and me, that he could no longer go on without our mother.

Jered then got out of the military, which allowed me to handle all of the legal affairs, which included taking custody of my then 16 year old sister, where I felt at home.
A little over a month later, I found out I was pregnant with my sweet, sweet miracle.  My son, Sylar Todd Woody, born on March 19, 2014 at 1:14 pm. First name, named after the Sylar watch in Heroes (like I said above, the first common interest my husband and I shared) and middle name, named after my father, whom I hold very close to my heart. This boy has brought so much joy to our family. I honestly believe that God knew I needed him. I needed this little boy to save me from the depression that I was slowly approaching. He pulled me out of the darkness and saved me. And I thank God everyday for him.

Shortly after Sylar was born, we realized we could no longer afford to live in Hawaii, and we bought a small, cozy house in Clarksville, Tennessee.

A little less than a year later, I found out I was pregnant with another blessing. And on October 19 2015 at 1:16 am, Milarose Alessia Woody was born (our children were born exactly 19 months apart to the day, and exactly 12 hours and two minutes apart to the second). First name, named after my beloved mother, where I put her first name (Milargros) and her favorite flower (rose) together to make one name, Milarose. And middle name, with no true significance, other than the fact that my husband wanted to pick something “pretty” *insert heart eyes*.

Now here we are, raising our little family. Taking each day as it comes.
Proverbs 19:21, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”

Saved by His grace and married with two kids. A son and a daughter. Here I will talk about things that happen in my, well our, daily lives. I'm so excited to share some awesome things with y'all! Enjoy!
