We all know that eating healthy and being active is the best way to a healthy lifestyle for our kiddos. But sometimes it’s good to know what vitamins, safe medicines and other alternatives we can give them when all else fails.
Vitamins and Minerals
- Children’s Multivitamin – We use Child Life: Multi Vitamin & Mineral. I wanted something that had everything our kids needed, like Vitamin C, D12, Calcium etc. Now we all know vitamins don’t taste good and that’s why they make then in gummies. I prefer this over the gummies because gummy vitamins can contain large amounts of sugar. For use, you put a teaspoon in your child’s drink (we do it in our morning smoothie, that way the taste isn’t too strong). - Children’s Emergen-C Kidz Packets – We love our Emergen-C packets. Now Sylar doesn’t use this too often, but that’s because he already takes a daily multivitamin that already contains a lot of the vitamins an Emergen-C packet contains. If your child is 4 years old+, they can use this as their daily multivitamin, taking one packet a day. It has lots of antioxidants, B vitamins, and electrolytes. Sylar will drink a packet in water if he is starting to come down with a cold. Cold and Flu
- Elderberry – We use Zarbee’s because it’s a well-known natural brand. Elderberry helps your immune system, improves heart health and is mainly used for coughs, colds, flu, viral and bacterial infections and even tonsillitis. The reason why I like this one so much is because it’s made into a gummy, which is easier for your child to take. I know I stated about that I don’t like gummies, but this isn’t made with gelatin (animal tissue) like most vitamin gummies. It’s made with pectin (apple cores). So it’s a plant-based gummy and not animal based. Click here to find out more about “Zarbee’s: Might Bee Gummy Immune Support”.
- Raw Honey – Honey has so many benefits. It’s loaded with antioxidants, first of all. It helps soothe a sore throat ( we like to mix it with some warm tea). It helps with digestive issues. And if you get Manuka honey (which isn’t traditional honey you buy from the supermarket like the one I have pictured below) it can help heal wounds.
