Milarose and I took a recent trip up to Manhattan to visit my sister, Alexandra. We had an absolute blast. Everyday we ventured off and did something new.
The first day we got there we stayed inside and caught up with small talk on how much we missed each other (you know, my sister and me, we’re tight).
Day two, we went to The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, took a walk down Central Park, ate at Gyu Kaku (if you don’t know what this is, you’re truly missing out), then we came back and ordered the biggest cookie in all of NYC from Levain. This was that Facebook video that went viral about these hamburger patty cookies.
Day three, we went to IKEA. Guys, this was my very first time GOING to an IKEA. And man… If I lived near one of those, I would be b-r-o-k-e. Haha. Then we visited Hazel Village and took a tour of their workplace and garden. We saw the sewers diligently stitching on the faces of their infamous dolls, as well as carefully crafting their clothing. I even got one for Sylar to take home. Now both kids have two dolls each. I know, I know. I’m probably the one who’s addicted to them.
Day four, we hit up Hell’s Kitchen and ate at 5Napkins. I got a mouth-watering pimento cheese, bacon, onion burger and fries. Then we went to Times Square, where Milarose was in awe over all the lights. Then we stopped by Grand Central Station and then we topped the day off with a little shopping on Fifth Avenue.
Day five, we went straight to Soho. Did a lot of walking around to admire all the architecture. I absolutely love the cobble stone roads. We then attempted to go to a few museums but they all didn’t seem to work out so we gave up and ate at a fancy place called E.A.T. and might I say, their cheesecake was HEAVENLY.
Day six, we went to The Cloisters. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been. It was breathtaking. Then we walked downtown Manhattan and just admired all the “busy” going on around us.
Day seven, we ate breakfast at a local diner where I ordered my heart’s true desires. Haha. Then we went back to the room so I could pack and head to airport!
I really enjoyed the time I spent with my sister and her boyfriend. I’m always so sad every time I have to leave her. Ever since our mom and dad have passed away, we have held on to one another closer than we ever have before. New York was fun, but spending the entire experience with my sister… that was even better.
